Agnos by Gidion

Privacy policy

Last updated 23 September 2026

Agnos cleans your documents on your own computer. They are never sent to Gidion or to anyone else. This page says exactly what does leave your computer, who receives it, and what we keep.

Who we are

Agnos is made by Gidion ("we", "us"). This policy covers three things: this website, the Agnos app, and buying a licence. You can reach us at [email protected].

This website

This is a static website: the same pages for everyone, with nothing to sign in to. It has no analytics, no ads and no tracking cookies.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare may keep standard server logs, such as your IP address, for security and reliability. Those logs are kept under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

The home page has a demo video from YouTube. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play. Then the video plays from youtube-nocookie.com, under Google's privacy policy.

Some links take you to other services. The download link sends your browser to the service that stores the installer, and buying takes you to Polar's checkout. Those services have their own privacy policies.

The Agnos app

What stays on your computer

All of this stays on your computer, and Agnos sends none of it anywhere:

  • the documents you import, and the copies Agnos keeps of them;
  • the extracted text, the cleaned text and the removed chunks;
  • exports, manifests and dataset cards;
  • project names, settings, saved recipes and the job history;
  • the database, the logs and the launcher's session file.

They live in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Agnos, unless you have set AGNOS_HOME to another folder. There is no account to create.

The app's interface is served by Agnos itself, on your computer, and loads nothing from the internet: no fonts, no icon sets, no analytics. Agnos works with every network adapter turned off. The 14-day trial needs no key and no network. Its start date, and the latest day Agnos has seen, are kept on your computer in two places: a small file in your library, and your Windows registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gidion\Agnos.

Licence activation and checks

The only network connection Agnos makes is about a licence bought online. It goes to Polar, the company that sells Agnos for us, at https://api.polar.sh, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). It happens at these times:

WhenWhat Agnos sends to Polar
You paste a key and press ActivateThe licence key, the organization id, and a name for this device
About once a week while Agnos is open, and when you press Check nowThe licence key, the organization id, and the activation id
You press Deactivate this device, or a key you activated turns out to be for a different product and Agnos gives the device backThe licence key, the organization id, and the activation id
The licence key
The key you pasted. It is the only credential: there is no password or account.
The organization id
A public identifier for us as the seller at Polar. It is the same for every customer.
A name for this device
Your computer's name as Windows reports it, up to 60 characters, or "Agnos device" if it has none. It lets you tell your devices apart when you free one. It is not your Windows user name, a folder path or a hardware identifier.
The activation id
An identifier Polar gave back when you activated.

Each request also names the program that sent it as "Agnos/2": the major version only. Nothing else is sent. No document, no file name, no word count, no setting, no machine fingerprint, no usage statistics. Polar sees the network connection itself, which means your IP address, as any website does.

Polar's answer says whether the licence still stands, and can include the email address the licence was bought with, when it was bought, and how many devices it is on. Agnos keeps that answer and the key on your computer, encrypted so that only your Windows account on that computer can read them.

Agnos checks your licence about once a week when it is online. If it has not been able to for 60 days, exporting pauses until it can check once; everything else keeps working. Before that, if a check cannot reach Polar, because you are offline, behind a proxy, or Polar is down, nothing changes and your licence stays. Only a clear answer from Polar that the licence has been revoked or disabled removes it.

If your computer has no internet, you can ask us for an offline key instead. An offline key is checked on your computer and contacts nothing, ever.

Buying from the app

Pressing Buy Pro or Receipts and keys opens a Polar page in your own web browser. Agnos makes no request itself: it hands the link to Windows and stops there. What happens in that browser tab is between you, your browser and Polar.

Nothing else

Agnos has no update check, no crash reporting, no usage statistics and no "anonymous" analytics. The licence check above is the only thing it does on a schedule. As installed, it downloads nothing and installs nothing by itself. If you see Agnos make any other outbound connection, that is a bug: please tell us.

Logs

Agnos writes two log files, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Agnos\logs:

  • launcher.log: starting, stopping and choosing a port;
  • server.log: requests, jobs and errors.

They record what happened, not what your documents say: file names, sizes, chunk counts, rule names, timings and error messages. Document text is not written to a log, and error messages are worded so they do not quote a file's contents or give its full path. Logs never leave your computer. If we ask for one to help you, you send it yourself, and you can read it first: it is a plain text file.

Buying Agnos

Polar is the merchant of record. Legally, Polar sells you the licence and we sell to Polar. Polar processes the payment and handles sales tax and VAT, so Polar, not us, holds the payment relationship.

Polar holds what any seller holds: your email address, your billing details and country for tax, the order, the licence key, how many devices the key is active on and the names of those devices, and the refund record if there is one. We can see those records in Polar's dashboard. We never see your card number.

Polar's own privacy policy governs the data Polar holds.

Email to us

When you write to [email protected], we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use them to answer you and to look after your licence: a refund, a device we free for you, or an offline key. An offline key is made for one computer, so for one we ask for that computer's code, which Agnos shows on its Licence page. The code is a short hash: it cannot be turned back into anything about your computer. When we do one of those, we note it against your order.

Please do not send us confidential documents or your full licence key unless we ask for them. The contact page says what helps us answer.

How long we keep things

  • Your documents and everything Agnos makes from them stay on your computer until you delete them. We never have them.
  • Server logs for this website are kept by the host, under its own policy.
  • Order records, including refunded orders, are kept by Polar under its own policy. We keep our record of your order for as long as we need it to support your licence and to keep our business records.
  • Your emails and our replies are kept for as long as we need them to help you and to keep a record of what was done for your licence.

Your choices and rights

  • Stay offline. After you activate, you can keep the computer offline and Agnos stays licensed; it needs to check once every 60 days for exporting to carry on. With no internet at all, ask us for an offline key, which never needs a check.
  • Free a device. Press Deactivate this device on the Licence page while you are online. If the computer is already gone, ask us and we will free it at Polar.
  • Remove one project. Delete the project in the app. The rest of your library stays.
  • Remove everything. When you uninstall, Agnos asks whether to also delete your library. The default answer is No, so your work is kept unless you choose Yes. To remove it later, delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Agnos folder, by default C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Local\Agnos, in File Explorer. That is all of it: Agnos writes nothing about your content to the registry, and nothing outside your own user profile. The two trial dates stay in the registry, so that reinstalling does not start a new trial; they say nothing about you or your documents.
  • Ask us. Depending on where you live, the law may give you rights over your personal data, such as seeing what we hold, correcting it, having it deleted, or complaining to a data protection authority. To use them, or just to ask what we hold, write to [email protected]. For the records Polar holds as the seller, you can also contact Polar.
